Curls

There are a lot of different ways to curl your hair.

I like to do lot of different styles depending on the mood I am in.

Flat iron curls are great...they smooth the hair with giving a nice ribbon curl.  You can have a tighter curl or a looser curl by running your fingers or a comb through the curls.  This will give more of a wavy look.

So basically the smaller the curling the curlier your hair.  The big giant curling irons are more for volume.

Another great way to achieve a fun curl is to wrap your hair around the outside of the barrel of the curling iron and holding it in place.  I love these curls.  fun and different

Then there is the basic curl that we have all been taught to do.  Wrapping the hair in the curling for a few seconds, releasing it and letting it cool...then its up to you to just kind of gently separate the curls or to kind of finger through them to soften them up more.

Above are some pictures of these different types of curls.

What is your favorite?

Also the best way to any great style is the right product.  I usually use a root pump or product with light to medium hold before blow drying the hair and then hair spray to hold the curl and usually I finish with a shine serum when I am breaking up the curls to give a little shine and tame any fly aways.

Before and After

A fresh new cut

This client wanted a change and I think it turned out great.

I love making a drastic change with haircuts.  Lots of fun.

I am going to try to start posting some more before and after pictures....I will have a lot of makeup tips tricks soon.  My class starts up in less than 2 weeks.

Change

How do you feel about change?

Some people need it....some people hate change.

Well for me change is hard.  Learning how to adapt to new things can be challenging... It can be the smallest thing like a new haircut or moving to a new place.

Being a military family we are constantly faced with new changes.  Moving, deployment (none yet) and with that comes new schools, new cities, distant family.

It can all be so overwhelming but at the same time exciting.

Even though I sometimes struggle with it I do feel like it helps us evolve into better, stronger  people.

How do you deal with change?

I seriously talk myself through it. I force myself to step out of my comfort box.  My Aunt (who has forever been my role model) once told me "sometimes you just have to take that leap and hope for the best"  great words :)  I have used them many times in the past few years to help me through change.  She also said to me before "face it, face it and it shall disappear" because obviously we all can have a hard time dealing with stuff.  Sometimes for me its as simple as a phone call I kept putting off or it could be a family issue you have been avoiding.  Well just FACE IT and deal with it....seriously you will feel like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders.

Well that was my little advice for the day.  Really think about some of the things mentioned and try to look at a situation you are dealing with and be positive, face it, rise to the challenge and be your best...no matter how big or small.

Thanksgiving

Sorry I haven't posted anything since Halloween.  Its been a little busy.

My husband was gone on a mission and then I was planning him a little surprise Birthday party.  That combined with 2 kids and all of their stuff....well I am sure all of you know how it is :)

So what does everyone have planned for Thanksgiving this year?  This is our first year making our own Thanksgiving dinner.  We always went to my parents and then to my husbands and stuffed ourselves at their houses.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish?  I can't have Thanksgiving without my Mom's candied yams.  They are the best.

I also love Thanksgiving because the day after I set up everything for Christmas :) The kids and I were already talking about all of our Christmas plans.  It is just a wonderful time of year.

I have never been one for the black Friday shopping.  It would just overwhelm me.  We have heard there are a lot of great deals at the PX though.  So we might venture out this year.

Well I will keep it short and sweet this time but I am hoping to have some more informational posts soon.

My makeup classes start in about 2 weeks so you will be getting a lot of makeup how to's

Have a great day everyone!!!
